Facebook video targeting
Facebook has added more features to it’s video platform. This way, the social network now has more control on who can see the video which is a great news for publishers and advertisers.
Publishers will be able to restrict who can watch the video based on age and gender targeting. Earlier on, Facebook added the targeting by location and language.
And this is not all. Facebook is enabling a security option which enables users with direct link to watch videos and only them. Something like “unlisted” option implemented by Youtube.
It remains to be seen how this new features will impact advertisers and publishers of Facebook video platform which business has exploded last year having about 4 billion views a day. After adding new ways of video advertising by adding commercial break-like ads that appear between a series of videos watched consecutively and the updates that relate to creating a separate wall for videos under Entertainment section, this targeting options should help advertisers in promoting the content and also should help Facebook to squeeze more money out of it’s video platform.
